If you’re a new Airbnb host or hosting a new space and you’re ready to stock your kitchen, it can be a little overwhelming to figure out the Airbnb kitchen essentials guests are looking for during their stay. This complete Airbnb kitchen checklist has you covered from what coffee maker to choose down to what cleaning supplies you need in your Airbnb kitchen.
Setting up a new Airbnb listing is one of the really exciting parts of being a real estate investor-especially if you’re like me and love design and decorating! There is something so rewarding about jazzing up your property and getting ready to host guests.
But when you get down to that very last step of stocking your Airbnb with its amenities, especially in the kitchen, it can be easy to forget things if you’re not prepared with a solid checklist.
As an Airbnb host of 4 years with 10 listings, I’ve refined my Airbnb kitchen shopping checklist to include everything I had missed my first time hosting including things that guests commonly request, products I’ve loved, and even cleaning and organizational products that have been game-changers.
Here in this post you’re going to get a list of my all-time best airbnb kitchen essentials, as well as a comprehensive list of every single thing you need to stock your kitchen.
Read on for tips on best Airbnb kitchen essentials.

TOP 10 AIRBNB KITCHEN ESSENTIALS:
1. Coffee Maker

Lets face it, the number one thing to get right as an Airbnb host is to make sure your guest doesn’t go with out their morning cup of Joe. With that said, there are a million different options for coffee makers. See the “All About Coffee” Section of this article to read more.
I use the Keurig mini in most of my short term rentals since I need something compact. Plus, they come in so many cute colors and are just adorable.
2. Brita Pitcher

Up until recently, I had been providing one water bottle per guest. Having to stock these was a pain, not to mention the added waste and the guest having to purchase their own water after that if they didn’t want to drink from the tap.
The Brita pitcher was the solution to this and its been a life saver! No more stocking plastic water bottles and all I have to do is make sure to keep an extra filter on hand for when it needs to be replaced.
3. Wine & Bottle Openers
Many guests are going to want to enjoy a beverage during their stay whether its a celebratory glass of wine, or they need a beer after that family reunion they’re in town for-and lets make sure they can find what they need when they need to crack in!
This multi-functional corkscrew wine opener also has a bottle opening function. Its super high quality and the best selling on Amazon.
4. Knife Block
A knife block is an essential for any type of basic cooking that a guest may do while staying at your place. This one is versatile, stylish, and has all you need for prepping any type of meal- including a set of kitchen sheers.
5. Various Sized Cutting Boards

It’s important to offer a few different sizes of cutting boards. I like to offer a large wooden cutting board for chopping vegetables, a large plastic one for meats, and a few small boards for preparing quick or simple things like slicing fruit.

6. Tea Kettle

Not only is a tea kettle a functional essential for your Airbnb kitchen, it can also be a really cute statement piece and a great way to add color in your Airbnb kitchen decor. I love this vintage style one and it comes in a handful of different colors to match your style.
7. Pot & Pan Set
A good set of pots and pans are crucial for a guest who’ll be doing some cooking at your place. You’re going to want something economical without skimping on quality.
This set of pots and pans by T-fal are non-stick, dishwasher and oven safe, and has all the pieces a guest would need to cook a variety of meals. They’re super durable and have lasted me a couple of years so far while holding up really well. They’re also super easy to clean, which is an added plus!
8. Pizza Cutter
Admittedly, this was missing from my essentials list until one evening that my husband and I were working on our setup. We got Instacart with some food for dinner including a frozen pizza. Only when I took the pizza out of the oven did I notice we didn’t have a pizza cutter and what a mistake that was! I now have pizza cutter at all of our listings.
This pizza cutter is cute, inexpensive, and the Best Seller on Amazon.
9. Vacuum

Another one thats easy to overlook. A vacuum on site is a must for your Airbnb kitchen. You might think that having a cleaner between stays and once a week during longer stays would be sufficient for keeping everything clean without needing to stock extra cleaning supplies.
However, if a guest is cooking consistently at your place, odds are, they are going to have some crumbs to pick up along the way and it can be extremely convenient to have at least a very basic vacuum sweeper.
Additionally, if a guest were to have something like a glass break on them, it’s crucial to have something on hand to clean up the mess.
10. Cooking Oil & Dispenser

Last but not least, number ten on the list is cooking oil. Many guests who plan to cook at your place will ask about whether you have cooking basics like oil before they arrive. Its convenient to have on hand so a guest doesn’t need to run out and grab a whole bottle of oil especially if they’re just staying a couple of nights and want to cook a meal or two.

KITCHEN CLEANING & ORGANIZING AIRBNB ESSENTIALS LIST:
1. Vacuum
Guests will really appreciate having at least a basic vacuum sweeper to have on hand to pick up after themselves during their stay. I’ve used a number of different styles of the Dirt Devil vacuums. They are so reasonably priced and do the job.

2. Mop
Again, you might be thinking that since you have a cleaner coming in between guests or even mid-stay, that this is unnecessary. Not the case! Don’t leave the guest in the position to use your bath towels to clean up a spill should they have one (been there).
The O-cedar is a great and inexpensive mop that you can leave in in your storage closet. The mop head can be thrown in the wash or replaced when needed and the best part is you don’t have to keep buying expensive refills.

3. Folding Stool
Even if you think there are no hard-to-reach spaces in your kitchen, just trust me on this one. Your vertically challenged guests will undoubtedly have a use for this at some point during their stay and they will thank you (4’11″girl right here speaking from experience).

3.Dish Drying Rack
If you have to wash dishes, why not do it in style? This wooden dish drying rack from amazon is super cute. You may want to pair it with a foam dish drying mat underneath.

4. Spoon Rest
A spoon rest is one of those things that is not totally necessary but will be noticed and appreciated if it’s there. And that’s what we as hosts are here for- to provide our guests with that “oh, I appreciate that nice touch” kind of moments.

SAFETY & OTHER AIRBNB KITCHEN ESSENTIALS LIST:
1. Fire Extinguisher
As much as you’d like to hope you won’t need this, it’s important to be prepared for a worst case scenario such as a kitchen fire. I keep a fire extinguisher under the kitchen sink and notate in the house manual where it is located so guests know in advance.
Click here to buy Fire Extinguisher on Amazon
3. Smoke & Carbon Detector
In my state (NY), smoke detectors are required to be provided by the owner of single and multifamily residences. The alarm must be able to be heard in each sleeping area. This may mean you need more than one smoke detector in you property.
The state is now also requiring CO detectors in every dwelling.
Kill two birds with one stone with this Smoke and Carbon Detector. Its got a 7 year limited warranty and comes with batteries.

2. Extra Batteries
There is nothing worse than getting a call on a Sunday night from a guest saying one of their fire alarms is chirping and they need you to come replace them. Check your smoke & CO detectors to see what batteries they take and stock them somewhere in your Airbnb where you can direct a guest to access them if need be.
*Tip* This also goes for remote batteries, smart lock batteries, and anything else in your place that requires batteries!

*Tip 2* If you’re going to ask the guest to replace their own fire alarm battery, make sure you have a safe step stool handy. The last thing you need is a guest getting injured trying to stand on chairs or furniture to replace a smoke detector battery.

ALL ABOUT COFFEE IN YOUR AIRBNB KITCHEN:
Don’t underestimate it- coffee is going to be a VERY important part of your Airbnb kitchen setup! The coffee experience is what guests want most out of a perfect stay, and we’re here to give it to them. Here are the essentials you need to think about when preparing your coffee station in your Airbnb.
1. The Coffee Station
Click here to shop Coffee Shelf
Something to think about is whether you want to set up a distinct coffee station area-either in the kitchen, or elsewhere in the home or apartment. In most cases, I like to get the coffee station off the kitchen countertop and in its own location. Not only will that take some of the clutter off your countertops and keep the kitchen looking clean and functional, but it brings focus to the coffee area, giving you the opportunity to create a little “happy nook” with all the coffee essentials.
2. Coffee Maker
When it comes to the coffee maker to choose, its important to be thinking about the specifics of your place, the type of (and how many) guests you’re hosting, etc. Here are a few different coffee makers to choose from.
Coffee Maker for Hosts Short on Space
Click here to shop Keurig Mini
This is my favorite coffee maker in terms of style because I love all the fun colors. It’s also got a super sleek design and can fit just about anywhere. I love the simplicity of this coffee maker.
Most Popular Coffee Maker

This coffee maker is great because it can hold 75 oz of water at one time, so you’re not having to fill it each use. It also has the capability to make iced coffee for all your iced coffee loving guests!
Coffee Maker for Lots of Guests
Click here to shop the Ninja Coffee Maker
This Ninja coffee maker is amazing and SO versatile. Guests can make a full pot of coffee for the whole crew, a single serve cup (using grounds or a k-cup), or they can make specialty drinks using the specialty brew feature and included milk frother. An all-around win!
Manual Brewing Options

3. Coffee
As for the coffee itself, I like to offer approximately 2 servings (K-Cups) per guest as a startup supply, and then guests are responsible to bring their own coffee after that. Again, the type of coffee you choose will largely depend on your guest (and which coffee maker you choose). Here are a few options:
Best Quality Economical K-Cup Coffee
Original Donut Shop K-Cup on Amazon
Best All Around K-Cup Coffee
Best All-Around Ground Coffee
The best all-around coffee is going to be something local in your market. Guests love feeling like they are getting the true local experience when they stay in an Airbnb. Its the reason why they choose Airbnb over a hotel. With that said, if it’s not in the budget to splurge on local coffee or you don’t have any good options, don’t sweat it. There are other ways to give your guest experiences other that coffee.
Best of luck on your Airbnb setup and hope you got some great tips from these Airbnb kitchen essentials! Happy hosting.
