As Airbnb hosts we’re in a tough spot because we want to give guests the best quality sheets possible, ones that hold up well, but also something that won’t break the bank if & when they need to be replaced.
Between thread counts, material options, color choices, and price point, if you’re lost when it comes to bed sheets for your Airbnb, you’re not alone. After over four years of hosting on Airbnb, I’ve tested out many types and brands of sheets before finally choosing the tried and true brand that I swear by.
In this post, I’m going to address where to buy sheets for your Airbnb, the best color sheets to use, the best material to look for, and my personal top pick for Airbnb bed sheets on Amazon that I use across all my listings.
This post is all about best sheets for Airbnb-Amazon.
Where to Buy Sheets for Airbnb
There are so many options when it comes to bed sheets, both in-store and online. Wherever you decide to buy your sheets from, do your homework and read reviews, specs, and definitely try out one set first if you’re buying them online.
The most important things to think about are availability, price point, and return policy. Once you pick out your favorite sheets, you’re going to want to make sure you’re going to be able to find the same ones again and be able to order & receive them quickly should you need to replace them on short notice. You also want to have the ability to return your sheets if you’re trying out a new set and don’t like them.
Places like Amazon and Target are my go-to for ordering bedding because I know they have what I need and I can get my hands on them quickly. I try and avoid stores like Homegoods or TJ Maxx even though they have a ton of great options, simply because they usually never have the same products each time you go. I’ve also had a difficult time returning bedding there.
Since I manage 10 listings, it simplifies my life to continue using what I know works well for me and so I continue to order the same sheets from Amazon since I can rely on the quality as well as expect them to arrive quickly.
Best Color Sheets for Airbnb
The color sheets you choose is completely your choice, however there are a couple of things to keep in mind when choosing a color for your Airbnb sheets.
The first thing to remember when choosing a color for your sheets is that they are GOING to get stained. In my experience, the best way to deal with stains is by having white sheets. With white, you easily can spot the stain, treat it, and even bleach the sheets if you need to.
You may find this to be counter-intuitive since at the same token, darker colored sheets could, in theory, help hide stains or normal discoloration and prevent the need to worry so much about stain removal. In my experience this is not true. In fact, I found that my cleaners would miss stains more with the colored sheets because they relied on the color to hide any stains, and didn’t do as good of a job checking them over.
Secondly, since white is the standard that hotels use and mosts guests are used to seeing, it just makes sense to provide white. Bright white sheets do just give guests that feeling of freshness and cleanliness.
With that said, if your thing is dressing a bed and having fun with colors or prints, go for it!! As I like to say, guests don’t travel via Airbnb to get a hotel experience, the do it to get a unique experience. Theres nothing I love more than a really cozy, layered, & colorful bed. It really is an art form. Just set the expectations for your cleaner on how they are to check for and remove stains.
Best Material for Sheets
The most common materials you’re going to come across when looking for sheets are cotton, microfiber, polyester & bamboo. Spoiler alert: my go-to for sheets at my Airbnbs are microfiber sheets!
Cotton:
Cotton sheets are the most traditionally sought-after sheets and the ones that are generally rated based on their thread count. If you’re confused about thread count and what it means, check out this article. In general, a thread count between 200-800 will be a good quality sheet.
The down side to cotton sheets is that true cotton sheets at a decent thread count can run a little higher in price than other options on the market. Although I don’t use cotton sheets at my Airbnbs, my favorite cotton sheets that I use at home are Target’s Casaluna brand Supima sheets set.
Microfiber (Polyester)-BEST for Airbnb:
In more recent years, microfiber sheets have caught more attention as a viable option for sheets. They can be incredibly soft and silky and the great part is they are super affordable! Spoiler alert- microfiber sheets are what I use across all my Airbnbs!
Bamboo:
Bamboo sheets are newer to the market. According to the Sleep Foundation, bamboo sheets are made of rayon, lyocell, or modal fabric from bamboo fibers. In my personal experience, I have noticed bamboo sheets to hold stains more than other types, so they were a no-go for me.
Best Sheets for Airbnb (Amazon Find!):
After years of trying different bed sheets for my short-term rentals, I have found the best bed sheets to be CGK Unlimited’s Hotel Luxury Bed Sheets. Here’s why:
Softness: The microfiber these are made out of is unbelievably soft and velvety
Wrinkle free: These sheets go on the bed so smooth and do not have wrinkles
Affordability: At first, under $30 for sheets seemed like it could not possibly be a good quality product, but I am happy to say I was wrong. And at that price, I can afford to replace them often if need be (I haven’t needed to).
Durability: I have 3 sets of these sheets that get rotated regularly per bed in my listings, and I haven’t had to replace any of them in over a year (its been 16 months and the sheets still look brand new)!
Bonus: How to Organize Sheets for Airbnb
Now that you’ve got your bed sheets chosen comes the hard part. How do you keep for bed linens organized and have an easy system for your cleaner to follow? Especially if you’ve got more than one bed in your Airbnb in different sizes, this is an important system to have into place for a smooth operation.
And speaking of having systems and processes for your cleanings, check out this FREE cleaning checklist template you can customize for your property.
My first recommendation is to use these packing cubes to keep each set of sheets folded and organized in. You can use a marker to label which bed or size sheets they contain. I swear by these for organizing bed linens. And you can even get them in tons of colors if you’re into color coding like I am!
My second recommendation is to have 4 sets of sheets per bed. I know, it sounds like a lot, but hear me out.
- one clean set will be on the bed at all times
- the second set is being turned over by your cleaner
- a third clean set will be on site the property in a linen closet for the cleaner to do the turnover with. They will replace this set each time with the one they’ve washed and brought back to the property.
- The reason why they should used the third set is so that all three sets of sheets are being cycled through so they all have a similar wear rate. Also, if you have a new cleaner filling in, they’ll always be a set on the property for them to use.
- a fourth set will be stored under the bed for an absolute emergency that can easily be accessed by the guest. It is RARE but it could-and sorry to say, probably WILL-happen that a cleaner misses a turnover and it goes overlooked by you. Then imagine a guest checking in at midnight to an uncleaned property with dirty bed linens (I won’t say whether this has happened to me…). You need to be absolutely certain that there is an emergency set on site if this were the scenario. It is not too far fetched. Be prepared with spares for spares.
